Nigel Gowan Ecotherapy Ecotherapy draws its ideas from both ancient and modern practices. Research has shown that simply connecting with nature can have a very benefical effect on mental well-being, and help alleviate many very common conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress and addictions. Nature-based personal development deliberately encourages a deep connection with nature, and then utilises this relationship for therapeutic purposes. Nigel Magowan provides ecotherapy, via group settings and one-on-one sessions, in wild camping weekend retreats and shorter workshops, held in countryside and parkland settings.
Nigel will be providing a taster session of Ecotherapy conducted on Chorlton Meadows, offering an introduction to its principles and practices, in the form of a brief talk, games and exercises, many of which have a meditative and reflective element.

Homeopathy Homeopathy Homeopathy is a system of medicine which involves treating the individual with highly diluted substances with the aim of triggering the body's natural system of healing. Based on their individual symptoms, the homeopath matches the most appropriate medicine to each patient. It is based on the principle that you can treat 'like with like'.

At the Festival I will be offering a free initial homeopathic consultation and information/advice on the use of homeopathy for first aid and longer term health problems.

pilates Pilates Pilates is about connecting your mind and body to create balance and symmetry in the muscles. For many of us nowadays that often means learning how to switch off the "bossy" muscles in our neck and shoulders, whilst learning how to "switch on" our core muscles to help keep those bossy muscles anchored in place. Energyflowfitness are offering a "pilates for posture" taster session from 2.30 to 3.15. You can come along and discuss any issues you have relating to poor posture with the group and then we will spend 30 minutes straightening you out, helping you learn a few simple tricks to help you stand tall, find your core, and leave feeling and looking great! No equipment or special clothing required, but be warned you will need to take your socks off!

Sue Dawson Shiatsu Shiatsu is a form of traditional Japenese bodywork which stimulates the body's natural healing ability by applying gentle pressure to points across the body.
Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and benefits a range of conditions including back and joint pain, digestive problems, gynecological disorders, fatigue, depression and most conditions that have stress as an underlying cause. It uses a variety of techniques to improve energy flow. These may include gentle holding and rocking, pressing with palms, fingers, thumbs and when appropriate, more dynamic rotations and stretches.
A session usually takes place on a padded mat at floor level with the client staying fully clothed, so it is best to wear loose comfortable clothing. It can also be received in a seated position. If you would like to know more about Shiatsu or try it for yourself, I will be offering taster sessions at this years Big Green Festival.
